Zillow: Pittsburgh rents remain affordable

Zillow released a study Friday that found that for the first time rents in suburban areas are growing faster than in urban areas, though the Pittsburgh region bucked that trend.

In Pittsburgh, suburban rents were down 2.6 percent, while urban rents were up 0.1 percent. Nationally, suburban rents were up 2.5 percent and urban rents grew 2.3 percent, the study found.

Pittsburgh had the 48th lowest average suburban rent among 50 top metros, at $1,121, and 41st lowest urban rent, at $1,002. The national…
