Sacramento Republic FC begins construction months ahead of MLS decision (PHOTOS)

The Sacramento Republic FC began groundwork Thursday on its $250 million soccer stadium in the Sacramento Railyards to show the city’s commitment to being home to a Major League Soccer team.

The stadium will be home to a hoped-for U.S. and Canadian professional soccer league team, but it will also be a 20,000-seat venue downtown for concerts, events and exhibition games.

Charter drops Spectrum Sports in Florida

Charter Communications will cease TV operations of Spectrum Sports in Florida at the end of the year.

Spectrum Sports, a 24-hour sports channel available exclusively to Charter Communications customers in the Tampa and Orlando areas, produces more than 5,000 hours of high school sports programming each year, including more than 160 high school games from preseason to the state finals, according to the company’s website.
